Charon, Vanth, Hermes, Anubis, the Valkyries, the archangel Michael, Anguta... all these and more are my teachers. In nearly every world religion there is a guide for the dead, a being to escort souls to the afterlife. In the realm of mortals, the psychopomps are the palliative care providers, the hospice workers, the physicians and nurses and social workers and chaplains who bear witness to suffering, death, and dying.
For this month I am one of them.
